Transparency and Standards
This page provides information on the structure, standards, methodologies and operational procedures of the environmental projects developed or supported by Ecomasy Srl, together with useful references for consulting public documentation available through international registries.
Purpose of the Environmental Projects
Ecomasy Srl develops, coordinates or promotes environmental sustainability projects aimed at protecting, conserving and enhancing natural areas, with particular attention to forest conservation, reforestation, ecosystem protection, biodiversity and support for local communities.
The projects may contribute to the protection of natural areas by preventing, where applicable, uses or activities with a high negative environmental impact, such as deforestation or forest degradation.
Conservation, reforestation or sustainable management activities may contribute to maintaining, increasing or protecting the carbon sequestration capacity of the areas concerned, depending on the type of project, the applicable methodology, the stage of development and the available technical documentation.
Where provided for by the individual project, infrastructure, activities or initiatives may be implemented for the benefit of local communities, according to the methods indicated in the project documentation and applicable agreements.
Project Information and Development Status
The information relating to the projects published on the website is prepared on the basis of the data available at the time of publication, the existing technical documentation, the stage of development of the projects and the information provided by the parties involved.
Each project may be at a different stage of its development cycle, including preliminary analysis, structuring, validation, implementation, monitoring, verification, credit issuance, transfer or retirement.
Timelines, quantities, results, credit availability, operating conditions and impacts may vary depending on the stage of the project, technical verifications, applicable standards, competent registries, agreements with the parties involved and the environmental, regulatory and market context.
Carbon Credits, Standards, Registries and Retirement
The carbon credits described on the website may be linked to projects developed according to voluntary or internationally recognised standards, depending on the type of project, the applicable methodology, the stage of development and the available technical documentation.
The life cycle of a carbon credit may include several stages, including project design, identification of the area or activity, selection of the methodology, validation, monitoring, verification, issuance, registration, transfer and possible retirement.
The availability, quantity, transferability, price, usability and status of the credits depend on the applicable standard, the competent registry, the technical documentation, the verifications carried out, the status of the project and the contractual agreements between the parties.
Any reference to carbon credits, certified credits, VCUs, standards, registries, verification programmes or methodologies must be read in the context of the specific project and the related documentation.
The use of carbon credits depends on the rules of the applicable standard and registry. In general, a credit may be used correctly only in compliance with the procedures established by the relevant programme, the available documentation and the rules of the relevant registry.
Retirement is a significant stage in the life cycle of a credit: it indicates the definitive withdrawal of the credit from the market, so that it cannot be reused, resold or claimed more than once.
Before using carbon credits in environmental communications, sustainability reports, ESG reporting, corporate reports or climate statements, each company or entity should assess the ownership of the credits, the applicable standard, any available serial numbers or identifiers, the status of the credit, any issuance, transfer or retirement, the declared purpose of use, compatibility with its own reporting system and the legislation or guidelines applicable to its sector and country.
Ecomasy Srl may provide information and available documentation on the projects and credits, but the final use of the credits and the related environmental, ESG or climate statements remains subject to the assessment of the interested organisation and its advisors.
The information published on the website must not be interpreted as an automatic guarantee of issuance, availability, allocation, transferability, valuation or usability of credits in the absence of the applicable technical and contractual documentation.
Environmental Claims, Sustainability, ESG and Documentation
Information relating to sustainability, environmental impact, forest conservation, reforestation, climate benefits, carbon credits, emissions offsetting, carbon management and ESG criteria refers to the projects, standards, registries, methodologies and technical documentation indicated or available.
Expressions such as “sustainability”, “environmental impact”, “offsetting”, “certified credits”, “ESG”, “carbon management” or similar wording must be interpreted in the specific context of the page, the project and the documentation to which they refer.
Ecomasy Srl adopts a principle of transparent, consistent and documentable environmental communication. The environmental claims present on the website are formulated with reference to the projects described, the applicable standards, the stage of development of the projects and the available technical information.
Each environmental claim must be assessed in relation to the context in which it is used. In particular, any references to climate benefits, offsetting, carbon credits, sustainability or ESG criteria must not be separated from the project, standard, registry or technical documentation to which they refer.
Relevant documentation may be available, where applicable, through public registries, international standards, project documentation, attestations, serial numbers and evidence of credit issuance, transfer or retirement. Additional technical or contractual documentation may be made available, upon request, to interested companies, entities and qualified operators, within the limits of confidentiality, availability and relevance to the specific project.
Any environmental, communication or reputational benefits depend on multiple factors, including the status of the project, the methodology applied, verification by competent parties, credit issuance, registration, possible retirement, the methods of use by the organisation, applicable legislation, ESG or reporting standards adopted and the completeness of the communication made by the user.
The use of carbon credits or environmental information does not automatically entail climate neutrality, zero emissions, improvement of ESG ratings or other results that are not expressly verified, documented and properly contextualised.
Any company, entity or qualified operator intending to use environmental information, carbon credits or references to Ecomasy Srl projects in corporate communications, ESG reports, sustainability reports, promotional materials or public statements is invited to assess such use with the support of its own technical, legal, ESG or sustainability advisors.
Carbon Credits and External Communications
The voluntary carbon credits described allow the offsetting of residual emissions according to the applicable standards, but they do not replace strategies for reducing emissions at source.
Also in light of the evolution of European rules on environmental claims and commercial practices, including Directive (EU) 2024/825, final users of the credits are invited to carefully assess:
the prohibition of environmental claims based on the offsetting of greenhouse gas emissions that state that a product or organisation has a neutral, reduced or positive environmental impact;
the correct contextualisation of each environmental claim based on the use of credits, with reference to the applicable standard, project, registry and reporting methods;
the compliance of their external communications with the rules on environmental claims in the jurisdiction in which they operate.
Ecomasy Srl is not responsible for the use made by final users of the credits acquired, nor for the environmental, climate or ESG statements made by them on the basis of such credits.
Project Structure and Operational Roles
The environmental projects described on this website are developed within an operational structure involving distinct parties, each with a defined role.
Ecomasy Srl — owner of the eCO2masy brand — is engaged in the research, development and structuring of environmental sustainability projects in the Amazon area. At this stage, Ecomasy Srl manages the project development process, the contractual framework, the financing of the initial phase and the definition of the structure of the rights relating to the project.
Samay Ltda — an entity operating in Bolivia — holds the role of Project Proponent according to the technical terminology of the sector. It is appointed by Ecomasy Srl to manage the technical-procedural process with the applicable standard, the Validation/Verification Body (VVB) and the official registry, as well as the continuation of the operational and documentary process of the project.
The two parties operate in coordination through dedicated contractual agreements.
At later stages, the rights relating to the project may be transferred to interested companies, which acquire ownership according to the applicable corporate structure. Samay Ltda continues to perform the role of Project Proponent even after any transfer of the rights.
Collaborations with third-party companies may take place through the acquisition of rights relating to existing environmental projects or through the development of customised projects.
